About

Jessica [jes-i-kuh] (n.) lover of books and coffee; lives in the Twin Cities; specializes in the written word.

I became an editor because I believe that books can connect people, empower individuals, and change the world. I am passionate about helping authors and publishers create high-quality literature for Muslims. My most fervent wish is that every Muslim is able to find books that are well-written, engaging, and relevant to their lives and values.

I studied English, linguistics, and technical communications in college, and I have an Editing Certificate from the University of Chicago’s Graham School. I am a firm believer in continuing education, whether that means reading, doing editing workouts, or taking courses.

I’ve been a freelance editor for more than seven years and have edited more than seventy books—fiction and nonfiction, Islamic and secular—for US and UK publishers, self-publishers, and authors. I’ve also been blessed to work on a variety of unique projects, including everything from editing web content to writing jacket copy to editing the script for an animated series.

When not editing, I can be found reading, studying Islam, and guzzling coffee.
